Pastoral Care Report

Mini Vinnies

Mini Vinnies will continue collecting 5 cent pieces for 5 Cent Fridays next term, offering an ongoing opportunity for students to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. This simple act of gathering small change can accumulate into a substantial amount, which can provide essential support to individuals and families facing hardship. By participating in this initiative, students not only contribute financially but also cultivate a sense of empathy, responsibility, and community service. As the collection grows, so too does its potential to make a lasting impact. Mini Vinnies will decide next term who they will donate the funds too.

Heart to Heart

Tuesday afternoon cannot seem to come around too quickly for our current Heart to Heart artists!! Throughout the course of each week the boys check in with Lara or myself to see what this week might be about or to share what they are looking forward to sharing in Heart to Heart. Last week they received a journal to be able to draw, create and make their own. We have started to block in our artwork and they are all looking sensational already, each artwork has its own personality and is a reflection of each one of our heartist.

Art Club

Our art club friends have been making our glorious word birds. Art Club friends make to keep and make to give. Our word birds have travelled near and far the years. If you have not seen them, they are paper birds with a feathered tail, connected to a wooden peg, adorned with little words of encouragement. Sometimes we send them to hospitals, nursing homes, Catholic Care kitchens, Year 12 students and people in disaster affected areas. Recently we been giving them to new students and special visitors to our school. They always make people smile and we love making them.

Playgroup

Our playgroup friends have had a wonderful term getting to know each other and make new friendships. We have shared art, craft, playtime, morning tea, stories and dancing! Playgroup is a great way for new parents, grandparents and carers to meet and connect in our school community. Playgroup will take a break now for the school holidays and the first five weeks of term as we welcome all of our early learners transitioning to Kindergarten for 2025.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club has been full of sunshine! We're back to enjoying cold Milo, with our fantastic Mini Vinnie helpers serving. The club runs twice a week—on Mondays, we offer toast and Milo at 8:15 am at the canteen. It's a perfect way for students to start the week and chat about weekend adventures.

On Wednesdays, Catholic Care provides a wonderful variety of fresh fruit for breakfast, served under the Kirk from 8:30 am, often with Mrs. Banham and some music to brighten the morning. All students are welcome to join!

Wellbeing - Empowerful Girls

https://empowerfulgirls.com

Our Year 6 girls have listened to some of the above podcasts. Suitable for 10-13 years, there are so many relevant topics for our young people to listen to. Boost their curiosity, compassion, and confidence on the go! Each episode is loaded with tools that empower our young people to know so they can navigate the world! Plus it's only 10ish minutes long, which makes them quick snippets of information.

May your holiday break be restful and spent with those you love. May you strive to be understanding and calm when faced with other people's chaos. May you be clear-eyed and big-hearted, and may you stay true to yourself when tested. May you seek out joy and laughter; they are essential for survival. May you try as best you can to be a light, even if you flicker a bit. Take precious care.

Always grateful,
Kristie Banham
